It is approximately 165 kilometers south of the city of Bangkok. It takes about 2.5 hours drive from Bangkok. The city is in the province of Chonburi.

Pattaya’s geography comprises an area of approximately the size of France, about 513,115square kilometers. It is located between 12 degrees north latitude and 100 degrees east longitude. Geographically, Pattaya is surrounded by Bang Lamung District.

Thailand has a population of 62,354,402 residents of which 104,318 (2007) reside in Pattaya. The majority of the population consists of Thai making up the 75% of the total population. Fourteen percent of the population is Chinese by origin and people of other origin comprise rest of the eleven percent.

The official language of Pattaya is Thai while English has almost become the secondary language. Other ethnic and regional languages are widely spoken. The literacy rate in Pattaya is 93.8% and Buddhism is practiced by majority of the population, comprising almost 95% of the total population. Islam, Christianity and Hinduism are the other religions practiced here.
